A sonnet is a poem in iambic pentameter made up of fourteen lines. Christian Schoettgen (died 1751) (see Horae Hebraicae et Talmudicae) anticipated much of what Lowth has written as to the nature, function and value of parallelism. We would not become better subjects, or more valuable members of the common empire, if we all resembled each other like so many smooth shillings. By the liberty of her behavior, she could rank among the feminists of our days. The final vowel of a word and the initial one of the next are pronounced in one syllable.

Students - Today's poem grew from an exercise I learned in a Highlights Foundation Workshop with the wonderful poet Rebecca Kai Dotlich in 2001. Cowboy poetry & tall tales right out of the old west. He has had stories published in Down in the Dirt, Rhapsoidia, Peeks and Valleys, and Midnight Times. The windows of that room gave out on the street of the Consuls which as usual was silent. Andy Griffith still entertains us, The flag still brings tears to our eyes!
