In On War against the Turk, Luther is actually less critical of the Turks than he is of the Pope, whom he calls an anti-Christ, or the Jews, whom he describes as "the Devil incarnate". "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema" Galatians 1:8. This guy had a real problem with authority. Rich Protestant Transylvanian Saxon merchants traded with the Ottoman Empire and often donated Anatolian rugs to their churches as a wall decoration more according to their iconoclastic beliefs than the images of the saints used by the Catholics and the Orthodox. The great massacre in 1641 had read a lesson which the Protestants of Ireland did not neglect, on the necessity of fortifying that important privilege. In none of the Confessions of the Reformation had the Church been so clearly set forth as a distinct and, in spiritual matters, independent society as it was in this one.

Nobody seems to care sufficiently for it; and every preacher thinks he has a right to change it at pleasure, and to invent new terms." Luther understood the Lord’s Supper also as a communal event, a real meal, where the blessed elements are meant to be consumed, not preserved, after the celebration. Still he was not without conscience, if under that category we may include any sort of a devotion which regards aught besides personal advantage.

At the same time many Protestant denominations oppose that the other uses the term because they all are in opposition on their beliefs. If the family was not able to pay the fine, a certain number of the troop took up their quarters in the house, cursing, blaspheming, carousing, wasting by their riotous living the substance of the family, and, before taking leave, destroying what they had not been able to devour.

The worship service of a Lutheran parish is usually filled with many "rituals" and sung liturgies, whereas the Baptist parish service appears lots less formal and without all the "bells and smells" of a liturgical service. In essence: Baptism doctrine For Lutherans baptism is a means of grace and the mode of application is not important, but is usually delivered by the sprinkling of water. Reformed Baptists are ascending at just the time that Lutheranism’s view of the Christian life is most needed.
